We had the privilege of attending the United Through Reading Capitol Reception on September 21, 2011. Emma, the daughter of Alia Reese who created and wrote the American Hero Books® series, spoke at the reception about how reading helps her to stay close to her Dad when he is away. Emma’s speech was posted on the United Through Reading blog on October 3, 2011, she was also mentioned in the October 20 post, and a picture of Alia’s son was featured in the October 12 post.
